The Lawrence Central band program is one of the most successful band programs in the state of Indiana and the country. The LC band program is a four-time ISSMA State Marching Band champion, five-time ISSMA State Concert Band champion, and two-time Bands of America National Champion. 

The LC band program is home to 4 ability-based Concert Bands, 2 ability-based Jazz Ensembles and an Advanced Percussion Ensemble. Students audition each semester for ensembles. 

Concert Band

Concert Band is the 4th ensemble at LC. This group consists of mostly freshmen and sophomores. This group performs high school level literature and is designed to help prepare students to successfully audition into a more advanced group. The Concert Band will perform at least 3 concerts per year and will perform in the ISSMA Concert Organizational each year.

Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is the 3rd ensemble at LC. This group consists of freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Symphonic band will play intermediate to advanced high school literature. Symphonic Band will perform at least 3 concerts per year, participate in the ISSMA Concert Organizational, and additional festivals and events.  

Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony is the 2nd ensemble at LC. This group consists of students in all grade levels. Wind Symphony performs intermediate to advanced level high school literature. Wind Symphony will also perform at least 3 concerts per year, participate in the ISSMA Concert Organizational, and additional festivals and events. 

Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble is the most advanced band at LC and is the premier wind band of the program. This group consists of primarily upperclassmen. Wind Ensemble performs advanced level high school literature and collegiate level music. Wind Ensemble will perform at least 3 concerts per year, various recruitment concerts, participate in the ISSMA State Qualifications, and additional festivals and events. 

Jazz Ensemble II

Jazz Ensemble II is the intermediate Jazz Ensemble at LC. This group performs intermediate high school level music. Jazz Ensemble II is open to all students and meets during the school day. 

Jazz Ensemble I

Jazz Ensemble I is the advanced Jazz Ensemble at LC. This group performs advanced high school and collegiate level literature. Jazz Ensemble I is an auditioned group and meets during the school day. This group also serves as the "Sweet Sound" backup band for the LC Show choirs. 

Advanced Percussion Ensemble

The Advanced Percussion Ensemble consists of the most advanced percussion students in the program. Students are admitted by recommendation only. This ensemble meets during the school day.
